Tips For Planning A Summer Party

Many companies will be planning a corporate summer event this year. After two years of scuppered Christmas party plans, it’s an ideal opportunity to gather staff together for some fun time way from their desks. A successful work bash can boost staff morale, improve workplace relations, and lead to a happier and more productive workforce.

Here are a few ideas to help you plan a memorable event that will get everyone enjoying themselves.

Venue

This is obviously one of the trickiest things to get right. Hold it away from the office if possible, to give staff a physical and mental distance from work. On the other hand, it should be accessible, within a reasonable driving or public transport distance of most of the staff. Consider laying on a coach or minibus to your chosen destination.

It’s summertime, and a venue with gardens where you can pitch a marquee or gazebo is ideal.

Activities

Activities that everyone can easily take part in are an essential party ingredient. They bring people together, especially if you have a larger company where different teams and layers of management don’t tend to mix much. Lawn games such as bowls, croquet, or frisbee are ideal, or giant board games which can be hired for the day.

Themes

Themes can be a fun way to add interest to the event, but compulsory dressing up is not everyone’s cup of tea. Keep it light, maybe with a few props, such as hats and wigs, or a themed decoration scheme. Hiring a photo booth will give everyone a chance to pose with their prop and create some fun memories of the event.

Catering

This will depend on the budget, and nature of the event. If it is a more formal corporate event, professional buffet catering and cocktails will be the order of the day. If you have a younger or more creative crowd, pizza, hotdogs, chicken wings, and so on may be more appropriate.
